Travelling in Cold Weather

Many people like to get away at some stage during winter. Whether you’re travelling to a warmer climate or taking a few mini trips to make the bleak weather a little more bearable, Guideline Coaches have put together some top tips. In our latest post, we discuss travelling in cold weather and things you can do to make the journey a little more comfortable.

Dressing for the Weather

It makes sense that in the winter you’ll want to dress warmly. However, it can be very easy to become uncomfortable when the coach you are travelling on has the heating on to compensate for the cold weather outside.

Layering your clothes is the best option. If you wear a snug, thick jumper with only a thin top underneath, you may become cold if you remove the jumper or may not want to take it off at all. Layering around three to four items will mean you can easily remove and replace articles of clothing to accommodate for the change in temperature when you get into your mode of transport.

Keep in mind that if you remove layers, you will need somewhere to store them, to save invading anyone else’s space or becoming uncomfortable. If you wear layers that you’ll want to remove once inside, keep a little room in your hand luggage to store them. This way, you won’t have to spend time rearranging your case or unpacking and repacking it whilst on a moving vehicle.

Carrying luggage can be awkward at the best of times, but even worse if your hands are freezing cold. On your travels, be sure to wear gloves and keep necessary items in secure, but easily reached places. Tickets, for example, should be separate from the rest of your luggage in a zip compartment that is easy for you to get to, but kept secure whilst you travel.
