Prudential RideLondon, Various Locations, 1st-4th August
If 2012 taught us anything it is that the UK is a nation of top cyclists, and this August the Prudential RideLondon Event Week will give us all the chance to take part in a fantastic festival of cycling as well as watch some of the world’s best take to the streets of our Capital.
The RideLondon FreeCycle allows the whole family to get involved along with 50,000 other keen cyclists, while the family-friendly route takes in some of London’s most famous landmarks.
Film 4 Summer Screen, Somerset House, 8th-21st August
If the idea of an open-air cinema showing everything from comedy and romance to musicals and thrillers sounds right up your street then you should check out Film 4 Summer Screen.
The glorious grounds of Somerset House provide the perfect environment to an extended programme of films over 14 nights this August, while early evening DJ sessions kick things off.
Notting Hill Carnival
Europe’s largest street festival hardly needs an introduction, but if you haven’t attended the Notting Hill Carnival before then you have been missing out on a veritable cornucopia of culture, music and outlandish costumes.

It is Europe’s largest free Latin fiesta and will kick off with a beautiful procession of floats – typically in the first week of August.
